Beeston BID Campaign Roll-Out

beeston bid logo

The Beeston Business Improvement District initiative has been an excellent working exercise for PNDesign as it required a strong PR strategy, a marketing plan, creative branding and design to work together. We devised and branded the campaign that informed Beeston about the BID over a four month period and brought them to an open public meeting.

The next stage of the BID is another campaign running up to the crucial vote and will incorporate an Open Public Meeting in August. This requires designing the right mix of marketing material that will reach everyone in the business community from large corporate companies to small independent shops.

Working together with the BID Manager Matt Robinson, PNDesign has been able to create a high level of engagement with the BID from the business community, which has outstripped neighbouring Nottingham City's Retail BID. As you can appreciate we are extremely proud that our work is being hailed as a good example by British BIDs.

Further examples of our work for the BID can be found on our
PR page.

Racing Cars, Speed and Networking!

scalextric hot laps

The recent Monster Networking event, Thursday 8th July at Fraser Browns Solicitors in Nottingham was great fun for us. Well, mainly for me as I set the fastest lap time on the Scalextric Challenge course set up by Jim Cowan of Cowan Global Events.

My lap was the fastest on the night at 30 seconds dead but it wasn't fast enough to knock AJ Hall of Arnold off the top of the oveall leader board with an amazing time of 27.09.

Raising over £400 on the night in aid of 'Help for Heroes', this was an excellent way to network and have fun at the same time, we heartily recommend it.

PNDesign are proud to be corporate sponsors of the
Scalextric Challenge. Check out their website for the current Leader Board and more information about a Scalextric Challenge event near you.

Top Tips for Organising an Event

event organiser

An event is an excellent way to entertain your clients and customers and can expand your existing client base, gain new business and create high visibility in the marketplace.

It is one of the best ways of telling people that your business is doing well. Done correctly the event has the ability to be more effective than advertising.

Here are some top tips to help make your next event a success:

  1. An event to raise money for charity is a different occasion than for promoting your company. The two can go together, but will take skilful organisation as the charity can easily overshadow and even blot out your company.
  2. Allow plenty of time to organise the event, do not leave it up to your office junior unless they have a good track record of success in this field!
  3. An event should be given the same level of thought, planning and strategy you would put into bidding for a new contract.
  4. The event will transmit the kind of people you are, your ethos, the relationship you have with your staff and how much you value your clients/customers.
  5. Get maximum PR from the event by sending press releases to relevant media and inviting them, the etiquette being only one local/national and one sector specific publication, ensuring they are informed about each other.
  6. With radio and TV, invite one or the other, never both. Remember the media should to be treated as a valued guest so allocate a senior member of staff to look after them.

Out and About

apprentice night

We have recently attended three great events that proved inspirational as well as entertaining.

First was
Apprentice Night at Latino's restaurant in Beeston, a fundraising evening in aid of Rainbows Hospice with three of the contestants from TV's Apprentice show - winner Yasmina Siadatan (shown here in conversation with our Vivienne) and runners up James McQuillan and Howard Ebison.

Charismatic Des Coleman - local BBC Weather presenter, was the MC for the night and held a lively auction. The evening raised just over £5,000 for the various charities represented.

Doug Richards' Worst Mistakes
Nottingham's Business School at the Djanogly International Centre hosted an evening with Doug Richards (who you may know from the first series of Dragons' Den). Doug talked (ranted!) about his 'Most Embarrassing Mistakes'. I wonder how many of us would have that kind of courage! His talk (rant!) was extremely entertaining and inspiring at the same time.

Where food meets fashion
Viv organised a small ladies luncheon and fashion show at 'Signature' restaurant and boutique in West Bridgford in aid of the charity
S.H.E. UK (Survivors Helping Each Other). Forty seven guests helped her raise £650 and much needed awareness for the charity.

Getting 'Inspire'd in Nottingham

PNDesign’s founder and MD, Paul Newson, was proud to sponsor the March Inspire networking event at Fraser Brown Solicitors in Nottingham on Thursday, 4th March.

Inspire
As a regular attendee and one of the founding members of the networking club way back in early 2009, Paul has made many great contacts amongst the business community of Nottingham. He gave a quick presentation introducing our services, before handing over to the main presenter - Claire Curzon, a social-networking specialist.

Originally more ‘creative industries’ focused, the club now attracts a wide range of businesses, some travelling from Sheffield, Derbyshire or Leicestershire to attend the monthly event. In fact, organiser Lee Callendar even had to turn people away due to fire restrictions in the 1930’s wood panelled offices - a shame, but it just shows how the club has grown in recent months, all down to Lee’s email marketing campaign.

BID Event a Success for all

BeestonBID Logo
PNDesign organised and promoted an open meeting on February 3rd to inform and update the businesses of Beeston on the progess of the Business Improvement Distrct plans for the future.

MD Paul Newson and PR Manager Vivienne Tregidga worked hard to provide a Marketing and PR strategy which successfully attracted over 60 local businesses to the event - many more, in fact, than the Nottingham BID attracted to their recent meeting, according to local radio station Trent FM.

Presentations were made by BID Manager Matt Robinson, PNDesign, Trent FM and Nottingham University, on a wide range of proposals designed to promot Beeston to a wider audience over the next few years.

The branding, marketing and public relations strategy devised by PNDesign has been so successful in fact that it is attracting interest from BID UK as well as one or two other towns who may need our help!
